”Gay Producers And Lesbians Are Now In Charge Of Nollywood” Paul Obazele

Posted: 02 Jun 2018 10:00 AM PDT

Veteran actor and former President of the Association of Movie Producers in Nigeria, Paul Obazele, says homosexual producers have taken over Nollywood. He made the allegation in an interview with Punch.

”I would not lie, we have gay producers and lesbians in the Nigerian entertainment industry and they are the people in control. Why are we hiding it? When I was president of the Association of Movie Producers, I was against them. Why are we pretending that it does not happen? The same way it happens in Nollywood is the same way it happens in the medical field and other fields. The truth be told , it happens across the board. If you mention the names of some producers, I would gladly tell you if they are gay or not ; they cannot do anything to me. If they bring a war to me, I would take it to their doorsteps. I do not give into gossips but I have got to a place in my life when some unsolicited piece of information come to me. They must tell me. I am an elder in this industry and that is why I said if you mention names, I would tell you if the person is gay or not. It does not elude us; it happens within our rank and file. But like I always say, sex is not the ultimate step to attaining success, it is hard work.” he said

#APCRallyShooting: “I Am Recuperating” – Bamidele

Posted: 02 Jun 2018 09:00 AM PDT

Ahmed Salami, the Special Assistant on Media to Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (M.O.B.),  has said there is no truth in stories making the round about Hon. Bamidele being in coma since Friday. It would be recalled he was hit by bullets at the rally organized for Dr Kayode Fayemi, by the party (READ STORY).

In a statement released in Ado Ekiti by Salami today, he said though Bamidele immediately fell and passed out due to the trauma he suffered when the bullets suddenly pierced his abdominal region and leg. “We appreciate his supporters and APC members across the state, said he had since regained consciousness. “The way he fell in the full glare of the crowd and party supporters fueled the insinuation that he is still in coma. “Let me assure our supporters in Ekiti and other concerned Nigerians that Bamidele not in coma. He has regained consciousness and fast recuperating due to prompt and intensive medical treatments he received thereafter. Its true that Bamidele has passed through major surgeries and the bullets have been removed from his abdominal region and leg. We implore our supporters to be calm and be law abiding whilst the situation is under control. “We appreciate our people for the outpouring of affections since the incident occurred and this underscored the strong bond of unity among the APC members and Ekiti people in general. “We want to say that the shooting was very unfortunate and unwarranted in view of the decorous and peaceful ways our people comported themselves from Akure, Ondo State capital via Ikere and to Ado Ekiti. “We charge the police authorities to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the shooting and bring whoever that was complicit to justice for a country that has respect for the sanctity of human lives to be attainable”, he said. “We specially appreciate the governor of Ondo State, Barrister Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his wife Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Senator Ayo Arise and other party bigwigs for the quick responses in saving Bamidele’s life and that of other victims”.

“Not Too Young To Run Law Another Promise Kept” – APC Replies PDP

Posted: 02 Jun 2018 08:00 AM PDT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the signing into law of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari is another promise kept by the current administration.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He also replied the criticism of the opposition PDP who claimed credit for the passage of the bill. If you missed that, READ HERE.

“This is indeed another promise kept by the president during his 2018 Democracy Day address and in our 2015 APC election manifesto,” he said.

According to him, the APC has promised to provide opportunities for youth to realise, harness and develop their full potentials.

The essence, he said, was to facilitate the emergence of a new generation of citizens committed to the sustenance of good governance and service to the people and the country generally.

He applauded the efforts of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, under whose leadership the bill was passed in the National Assembly and forwarded for presidential assent.

Mr Abudullahi further congratulated the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Advancement (YIAGA), Youngstars Development Initiative (YDI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) who partnered to inaugurate the “Not-Too-Young-To-Run campaign.

“We believe the massive support the bill received, particularly from APC members in the National Assembly, speaks volume of the progressive ideals the party continues to identify with and champion, irrespective of partisan considerations and interests.

“This is indeed a major milestone in advocacy efforts to ensure increased participation and inclusion of marginalised groups, in this case the youth in Nigerian politics,” he said.

He noted that the youth comprise roughly half of the Nigerian population, adding that it was only right that they take their rightful place within party leadership structures and elective positions at all levels.

The APC spokesman expressed confidence that the new law would inspire a new thinking among many Nigerian youths pertaining to their roles in elections and politics.

He maintained that youths should not be used as disruptive elements, thugs and social media mobs, stressing that it was possible for young people to lead politically and occupy elective positions.

Mr Abdullahi, however, said that it was unfortunate that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had chosen a moment of victory for the country’s youth to be a “kill-joy”.

He accused the party of engaging in “pettiness and unnecessary divisive politics’’ over the bill’s sponsor in the National Assembly.

“Our party is happy to share this victory with all Nigerians who desire to see a better future for our youths.

“However, we probably need to remind the PDP that it is still a minority in the National Assembly,” he said.

APC, PDP Trade Blames For Fayemi’s Campaign Shootings

Posted: 02 Jun 2018 02:00 AM PDT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has accused the government of Ekiti State in Friday’s shooting of some chieftains of the party at a rally it organised to welcome its governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi. If you missed that, READ HERE

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement on the shooting, said it was a clear case of assassination.

“One of the assailants dressed in mobile police uniform was apprehended and he is now helping the police in their investigation. They fired gunshots aimed at Fayemi but hit a former lawmaker, Opeyemi Bamidele, after the former minister had taken a few steps forward before the bullets hit the target,” said Mr Olatunbosun.

“Bamidele and other victims were immediately rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, where doctors are responding to his treatment.

“Bamidele was fatally wounded in the attack while others also sustained various degrees of injuries.”

He later told newsmen that the attack must have been instigated by the state government which had earlier created tensions following announcements by the governor, Ayo Fayose, barring motorcycle riders and other unions from attending the rally.

The spokesman for Mr Fayemi, Olayinka Oyebode, had also insinuated that the assassination attempt was likely sponsored by his political opponents.

But the Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organisation heaped the blame on the conducts of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the APC governorship candidate, Mr Fayemi.

The organisation in a statement on Friday alleged that Mr Akeredolu should be blamed for the shooting, who invaded Ekiti State with armed policemen and thugs, “throwing the state that has been peaceful since the advent of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s government into bloodshed.”

The Director of Publicity of the organisation, Lere Olayinka, who signed the statement, said Mr Akeredolu led the APC governorship candidate to Ekiti in a show of federal might and in the process, seven people were hit by police bullets.

“At the APC secretariat, one of the mobile policemen, was said to be using his gun to push away the thugs brought from Ondo State and the hoodlums in turn dragged the gun with him, leading to sporadic shootings that left six persons shot,” Mr Olayinka said, in his own narrative of the shooting event.

“The APC thugs backed by armed policemen later went on rampage at Ojumose area of Ado Ekiti, destroying the canopies and chairs in front of the residence of late Prince Adegoke.

“As usual, the APC went to town with story that the policeman who fired the shots at the party secretariat was fake. However, information available to us is that the policeman was brought from Ondo State by Governor Akeredolu.

“Consequently, we challenge the police authority to release the identity of the police officer to the public and how he left Akure for Ado Ekiti.

“We also wish to alert the public of the possibility of the APC shenanigans plotting to assassinate the policeman so as to sustain their lie that he is fake.

“We make bold to say that Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State and Dr Fayemi must be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Ekiti State.
Rotimi Akeredolu

“We are aware of their mobilisation of thugs from Ondo State to Ekiti for the July 14. The governor even reportedly boasted that he was ready to spend two months allocation of Ondo State on Fayemi’s election.”

”I don’t think I can thank you enough for your steadfastness under very difficult circumstances. It is not easy to defend this administration and more importantly, to defend me. But your consistency is giving me a lot of confidence and I know you are paying the price physically, mentally and materially because the opposition now is are sitting on incredible resources, which I’m afraid we cannot get at it all. For that reason, they are sponsoring mischief from different angles, which in spite of the incumbency of the government, we cannot absolutely stop that. It is you people, that are quietly and openly fighting it and I cannot thank you enough for that,” he said
